A few minutes ago, I found out that David Bowie passed away. From being the ultimate rock icon, Ziggy Stardust to the menacing yet sexually awakening goblin king, Jareth… He has been a big part of my youth. I remember listening to Rebel Rebel as I got ready to go out to my first club. Or how I laid in bed, earphones in place for Letter to Hermione… because really, that’s the only proper way to listen to that song.
It is with great sadness that I compile my favorite songs now as a tribute to an amazing artist. He will be with us forever. There are rock stars but he is a constellation.
“It’s only forever, not long at all.” Goodbye Ziggy Stardust. Continue reading “Long Live Ziggy!”
After a long wait, The Beatles’ albums are finally available on Spotify! Best Christmas gift ever! To commemorate their wonderful music, this week’s Thursday Tunes is a compilation of my favorite Beatles’ songs. Blast this from your speakers this Christmas and reminisce the good old days where lyrics actually mean something! Continue reading “The Beatles are finally on Spotify!”
I was listening to Florence + The Machines, a couple of weeks ago and discovered a song which I didn’t even know was in their album. “All This And Heaven Too” is a breathtaking piece of music that speaks about the inadequacy of spoken word to express genuine and unconditional feeling of love you experience in life.
That’s why I decided to compile songs that can help us convey our emotions for all the times we cannot fully express the matters of the heart. Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #6”
Thought I’d do something different and share music from SoundCloud. Here are a bunch of my favorites this week. Totally amazing artists that need your support! Kinda poppy, a little bit indie. Enjoy! Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #5”
After a Friday night of loud music and pizza stuffing, I groggily woke up in need of tea. My friends and I discovered another unique café (which I will share next time) in Iidabashi. Not only do they have unlimited coffee and tea (and massage chairs), they have a wide range of music on hand. Unfortunately, they don’t have their own Spotify playlist so I took it upon myself to “shazam” my favorite songs. Enjoy! Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #4”
I’ve been neglecting this blog again. It’s been three weeks! Midterms just finished and I actually did better than I thought I would. With more free time, I would finally be able to write again. I’ve been itching to share my take on this book about Chaos. Pretty interesting stuff. In any case, watch out for that and enjoy this awesome playlist. Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #3”
I feel so bad for not updating my blog more often. This week I’ve been on a 90s-esque music bender. These songs are quintessential alternative rock/pop… A reminder of the younger years where my friends and I would be hanging out at the mall eating ice cream, thinking we were cool for being out late at 9pm. Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #2”
The great thing about taking the train everywhere is that you have the perfect backdrop for new music. Here are the songs I discovered this week. While I never name favorites, Eugene spoke to me like no other song in this list. The chime-like acoustic melody accompanied by the raw and heartfelt voice of Sufjan brought me to an introspective state, staring at the passing scenery with a profound sense of regret. I choked back the tears. Continue reading “Thursday Tunes #1”
