Welcome to Ramen & Inglenook!

I’m Kaan, a wanderer who divides her time between Manila, Tokyo and Chicago. I enjoy ramen on most days. I love staying at home during winter, preferably under a blanket… in front of a cozy bonfire, book in one hand and a PBR on another. I’m fond of discovering new things – from obscure music to hole in the wall eateries. I’m too young to stop having adventures but I’m too old for adrenaline inducing activities (i.e. rollercoasters).

Fast facts about me: I graduated from Kendall College in Chicago with a degree in Hospitality Management, and a certificate in Japanese Cultural Studies from Waseda University Tokyo. I also had a brief stint at Alliance Franćaise de Manille, but sadly only finished A2 French level.

I’m mildly obsessed with Harry Potter (unashamedly shipping Drarry) and chocolates. I have an aversion to expensive wine. They all taste the same to me… DELICIOUS! I’m definitely not a healthy foodie. The greasier and fattier the food is, the better! I have a piss-poor taste for whiskey and hard drinks. That said, I know great tea, coffee and beer when I taste it! I like taking photos with my Polaroid, and I’m currently saving up for a new camera equipment!

I’m probably going to be writing about experimental cooking, stumbled upon places, interesting notions and music.

(Remember, bullying is for pussies.)

Cheers, Kaan

  2. Mmmmm, ramen! Unfortunately, I’m discovering I’m a bit gluten-sensitive. Fortunately, I have two yummy sounding kinds of rice-flour ramen in my cupboard to try soon. 😀 Life is good when we have options, no?

Glad to ‘meet’ you, and I’ll enjoy visiting here more when I have some time, I can tell.
    Cheers to you!

    1. Hey Kathryn! Can’t say I’m not sad to hear about you being sensitive to gluten… But yes, options are helpful. It’s a great time to live in this world! I hope you still taste some amazing ramen broth and chasu pork. They are the best part, I think!
